Well, graphic novels at least.
I suppose it might be hard to ignore Watchmen, 300, Sin City, etc., even for Science Fiction snobs.
Besides, why should there be such a thing as S.F. snobs. (And believe me, they exist....) Didn't they suffer from that same attitude for a generation?
Lot's of Mom's think it O.K. now to read S.F. and Fantasy.
Next.... broadening of the minds (or dumbing down of America, depending on which camp you inhabit) .........comics!
Quit playing video games, son! Read a good comic!

It's important to keep in mind that there's more to that story than its headline. People who think this is a good (or bad) idea should be doing something now about it.
Rather that re-posting everything I've said elsewhere, I suggest you have a look at what I said on my LJ about this subject.
While those who think it's about time may be happy, they now have something of an obligation to get involved and prove to the people who make the decisions that they did the right thing. If nobody makes any nominations for this category at next year's Hugo Awards, it seems highly unlikely that the WSFS Business Meeting won't ratify the change and we'll never hear about it again.
It wouldn't be the first time that a promising-sounding category has failed to get sufficient interest to justify continuing it. That's why you don't see Hugo Award categories for things like Best Music or Best Computer Game or Best Original Artwork.
